Applications
MPP

MPP:
Screw Pumps are very commonly used in upstream Oil and Gas Applications. Leistritz is a pioneering company in Twin Screw Multiphase Pump Technology (MPP). Over 20 years experience with installations all over the world of Leistritz Multiphase Production Systems in Onshore, Offshore and Subsea applications. Customized Units as well as Standard Packages are offered with electric motor or gas engine drive. Leistritz Screw Pumps are playing an ever-increasing role due to their high viscosity and temperature and high gas entrainment tolerance. Light hydrocarbons with low flash point as well as waxy or heavy sour crude oils can be pumped efficiently and reliably because Leistritz Twin-Screw Pumps are based on the positive displacement technology where one of the benefits is the ability to boost untreated well flow without separation. The MPP system is also suited for Water Logged and Wet Gas Wells and thereby reducing facility and operating expenses.

Marine

Marine:
The marine program includes lube oil, fuel oil (also now for MGO, LGO and HFO) hydraulic pumps as well as cargo pumps for off-loading tankers and barges. In cooperation with Iron engine room and ballast pumps Leistritz offers the complete marine pump program from one hand. Service and spare parts are readily available from East, Gulf and West coast service centers.

Power Generation

Power Generation:
Major OEM's uses fuel oil injection and forwarding as well as lubrication service with Leistritz Three Screw pumps. The same pump models can handle Bio fuel or #6 oil in liquid fueled steam plants as well as for diesel powered generating plants in remote and harsh locations. Reengineered three screw pumps are an economical way to replace aging and inefficient pumps.

Pipelines and Terminals

Pipelines and Terminals:
A growing number of installations of two and three screw pumps in pipelines and bulk terminals can be explained by the increasing use of heavy oils all around the world. The screw pumps can safely handle the heavy oil with lower temperature than a centrifugal pump and their capacity is independent of density and back -pressure. By using screw pumps also costly diluents blending can be eliminated or sharply reduced.

Oil & Gas

Oil & Gas
Leistritz Screw pumps are playing an ever-increasing role in Oil and Gas applications.
Due to their tolerance of high viscosity and temperature and high gas entrainment. Light hydrocarbons with low flash point as well as waxy or heavy sour crude oils can be pumped efficiently and reliably. In gathering systems LACT pumps are used to accurately meter production and in refineries Leistritz twin-screw pumps serve in flare knockout drum service mitigating problems with flashing and liquids in the flare stack.

Refinery

Refining:
Screw pumps are increasingly used in refinery applications due to their tolerance of high viscosity and temperature as well as their ability to handle vapors and light hydrocarbons. When VOC emmissions from piston pumps packings are an issue Leistritz screw pumps are a good replacement As a Reengineered Pump. The pumps are used as charge pumps, pitch pumps and transfer pumps. The Flare Knockout Pumps are superior to other pump designs to mitigate problems with flashing and liquids overflow. The pumps can be supplied with VFD control to optimize energy use and are fully compliant with API 676 III Ed. standards. Double seals and magnetic drive as well as various material options are available for the most efficient and low maintenance operations.

Chemical Process

Chemical Process:
Seal-less two and three screw pumps with magnetic couplings are increasingly used in the chemical process industry. A typical service is MDA/MDI transferring where any hazardous emissions must be avoided. VOC awareness is playing an important role in selecting equipment making a seal-less Leistritz pump the imminent choice to replace piston pumps that can't meet VOC emission standards due to packing glands. Screw pumps are also the natural choice for pumping different grades of polymers and monomers at high pressure and temperature.

Asphalt Service

Asphalt Service:
Heavy asphalt and bitumen are successfully pumped using Leistritz two and five screw pumps in terminals, blending facilities and with barges and rail tankers. With VFD speed control the pump speed can be controlled and thereby the flow of the pump independent of viscosity and backpressure. This feature is used when blending different grades of asphalt and when stripping tanks and suction lines in barges and rail tankers.

Lubrication

Lubrication:
Vertical in-tank mounted lube oil pumps is a Leistritz specialty. It is a space saving and an easy way to access the pumps from the top of the lube oil tank. In addition this pump mounting reduces the lube oil skid footprint and saves on valves, piping and installation. The pump and motor are face mounted and always stay positively aligned with the rabbet fit eliminating shimming and re-alignment at start-up.
All Leistritz lube oil pumps can be equipped with integral relief valve, another saving in equipment and installation costs.

Fuel Oil Service

Fuel Oil Service:
High-pressure fuel injection pumps for ground based gas turbines are a growing field for Leistritz three-screw pumps. Either for liquid fueled only turbines or as back up for natural gas burning machines. They can be horizontal however often today vertical base mounted where the motor is fully supported by the pump casing or vertical wall mounted. Pumping #2 diesel, distillates and kerosene the compact pump design is very reliable and simple to operate and service.
